News Breakthrough in Jacketed Wire Production Technology
Wire processing specialist, Meltech
Engineering Ltd is announcing a new approach to manufacturing
silicone
rubber coated, single and multi-core wires, and jacketed
cables on stand
9E 25 at Wire 2006. Requiring
less space yet achieving high production speeds, the
Meltech
machines are cost-effective, entry level alternatives
to current production technologies for both silicone
rubber coated wires and jacketed cables.
Meltech Engineering
manufactures a range of in-line furnace, strand annealing
and automated winding equipment.
It offers a complete manufacturing line for silicone
rubber that needs less space, is easier to operate
than existing steam vulcanising machines, and with
typical production speeds of 140 metres per minute.
The Meltech jacketing line features
an innovation in production of flame retardant wire.
Until now manufacture
of jacketed wire has been a three-stage process, Meltech
has reduced this to two-stages: manufacture of coated
wire and jacketing using Meltech’s proprietary
SZ strander technology.
"Our machines are designed to
lower the market entry cost for manufacturers. The
combination of high
speed
throughout and compact size of the production lines
makes a compelling business case for any company wishing
to break into the wire and cable manufacturing market," commented Peter Drever, sales and marketing director,
Meltech
Engineering Ltd.
